Surrealism was a reaction against violence due to the movement starting at the time of World War I. Surrealism was about tapping into the sub-conscious of people and looking at the imaginary world and real life thoughts and opinions.

The movement was revolutionary, it wasn’t just an artist movement. It was a whole philosophy to the artists involved in it. The movement was strong enough to make it renowned worldwide.

Surreal art can be whatever the artist or photographer wants it to be, dreamy, gritty or it can be optimistic or depressing.
